Mesa Open Bookcase

I had admired this bookcase for a while and finally ordered it to replace a smaller, overflowing, uninspired bookshelf.

I first considered the six-foot option but was afraid it would overwhelm the space. I love the finely-proportioned 5', but I also realize the 6' would have been just fine; the piece has a lighter feel due to the open slatted side and and the airy uplift provided by the graceful arch at the top.

Oh! and the inlay is the subtle, gorgeous icing on the cake! Perfect!

I chose the wood and color to match the non-Arts and Crafts (but very adaptable) bedroom pieces I have, and it moved the room right into the 19th century where it belongs! ;-)
